Second Call

I wanted to pass a thought Brannen Manning shared in a chapter from his book "Ragamuffin Gospel". He titled the chapter “The Second Call”.

“Second journeys usually ends quietly with a new wisdom and a coming to a true sense of self that releases great power. The wisdom is that of an adult who has regained equilibrium, stabilized, and found fresh purpose and new dreams. It’s a wisdom that gives some things up, lets some things die, and accepts human limitations. It’s a wisdom that realizes: I cannot expect anyone to understand me fully.”

He goes on to say: “ the second journey begins when we know we cannot live the afternoon of life according to the morning program. We are aware we only have a limited amount of time to accomplish that which is really important-and awareness illumes for us what really matters, what really counts. This provides a new center.

Have you had a second call? Is this one deeper, more mature, with solid and clear purpose?

Peace and Love!

Just a mere conduit!

Ok, I had to steal a line used often by my friend Phil(poppy "P") when sending a forward via email. I found an article I enjoyed and I cut it up in bite size pieces for you busy folk! I am just a conduit!

Stress, frustration, exhaustion, and guilt are the symptoms of a life out of balance. You'll feel them if your work eclipses your relationships. You want to be successful at everything in your life, but too often, you run out of time and energy trying to do it all.
The key is realizing that life isn't a sprint -- it's a marathon. If you balance your life at the right steady pace, you can achieve long-term fulfillment.
Here's how you can balance your life well:
Pursue endurance. Stop rushing through life as if it were a sprint instead of a marathon. Don't burn yourself out.

Get rid of the "hazies." Don't let hazy thinking cause you to lose sight of your long-term goals. Think and pray about what's most important, and establish priorities.

Get rid of the "lazies." Ask God to help you develop the self-discipline you need to bring your life into the right balance. Realize that you will have to make some sacrifices to achieve a healthy balance in your life; be willing to do so.

Get rid of the "crazies." Don't allow your life to run out of control. Learn to say "no" or "not right now" to requests for your time and energy that don't reflect your current priorities.

Stay on track. Remember that balancing your life isn't just a one-time event; it's a process that needs your constant attention.
