I find it amazing that the federal government just discovered an old trick the Oliver household has been using for years. Paying cash for ….let’s just say experienced cars! I hear that we burned through a trillion in one week with that project to generate new car sales; hope that worked? The word from the Hill, is we may want to redo that project and spent a few more billion. I am chilled with goose bumps awaiting the news of the success in “cash for clunkers”.
Most of you who that know me well, know I have bought my fair share of clunkers down through the years, in fact I came close to inking a deal with a local auto repair shop that would include me paying him a standard monthly installment and him keeping my clunkers road worthy. I can’t tell how many cars I have been through since my early driving days but it would surprise us all. My all time cheapest purchase was a $250.00 expense for an old pick up and I drove it for a while, then one day I came home after work one afternoon and chickens were roosting on it and I laughed till I cried, then soon the chicken roost truck came to an end.
On that note Cadence, who is a gold member of “cash for clunkers” called me yesterday and told me a funny story in keeping with this theme. Her new job is being a nanny for a successful family who live in a nice community where clunkers are not seen too often. So, one of the neighborhood’s children walks up to Cadence and says “ just thought I would mention to you of “cash for clunkers..thought you might need to know that”. I am so glad my middle kid is secure in who she is!
